March 23, 2023 – Earlier this month, BYD launched its pure-electric Seal EV sedan in India in three variants, with prices ranging from ₹35.6 lakh to ₹46 lakh (equivalent to $43,300-$55,900 USD). According to the latest figures, the car has already received over 500 bookings within 15 days of its launch.
In comparison, the Seal Champion Edition starts at ₹18.98 lakh in China, indicating that the car is priced nearly twice as high in the Indian market. The first batch of Seals has already been shipped to India and is expected to arrive at the port on March 26, with deliveries commencing in April.
BYD revealed that Seal is the third model that the company will launch in the Indian market after Yuan PLUS and New E6.
The car is equipped with CTB battery-body integration technology, iTAC technology, rear-wheel drive/four-wheel drive power architecture, and an efficient eight-in-one electric powertrain. The four-wheel drive version can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds.
As early as October 2022, BYD officially announced its entry into the Indian passenger car market, with the first car being the ATTO 3 (domestic Yuan PLUS). In India, the car is priced at 2.5 million Indian rupees (about 218,000 CNY), which is nearly 80,000 CNY more expensive than the old domestic model (starting at 139,800 CNY).
Since its launch in October 2022, the car has received a very positive response from local consumers, emerging as a star model that ranks first in the sales of premium pure electric vehicles in India.
Last September, BYD organized concentrated deliveries of 200 units of BYD ATTO 3 in six cities in India (Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kochi), and held user interactive activities to celebrate and commemorate this milestone.
