Stanford University's Latest AI Report: China Leads Global AI Patents!

On April 17th, it was reported that Stanford University's Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence, co-led by Chinese-American scientist and "AI matriarch" Fei-Fei Li, released the "2024 Artificial Intelligence Index Report".

This 501-page report, touted as the most comprehensive one yet by the institute, tracks the development trends of global artificial intelligence in 2023.

The report reveals a significant 62.7% increase in global artificial intelligence patent grants from 2021 to 2022. Since 2010, the number of granted AI patents has grown by over 31 times.

China holds a commanding lead in the number of artificial intelligence patents. Since 2010, the U.S. share of AI patents has steadily declined from 54.1%. In 2023, 61 prominent AI models originated from institutions in the United States, far outnumbering the 21 from the EU and 15 from China.
