On May 26th, the "IJMMM 30th Anniversary Celebration Conference and 2024 Dingxin Technology Frontier Forum" hosted by the University of Science and Technology Beijing was held in Beijing.

During the event, the ceremony for the release of the special issue commemorating the 30th anniversary of the International Journal of Minerals, Metallurgy and Materials (IJMMM) was launched. The special issue consists of 3 editions, featuring a total of 72 papers covering the fields of minerals, metallurgy, and materials. It showcases the latest research achievements of academicians and renowned scholars from 13 countries including China, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Sweden.

President Yang Renshu of the University of Science and Technology Beijing stated that after 30 years of development, IJMMM has become an important platform for academic and technological exchanges in the field of minerals, metallurgy, and materials in China, serving as a significant window for foreign countries to understand the related developments in China. In the future, the university will leverage its strengths in disciplines such as mining engineering, metallurgical engineering, and materials science and engineering to build a multidisciplinary academic exchange platform, making new and greater contributions to the construction of a strong technological and manufacturing country.

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Editor-in-Chief of IJMMM, Wu Aixiang, reviewed the background and development history of the journal, as well as the glorious journey of the team's hard work over the years. He emphasized that IJMMM has always focused on national strategic needs, highlighted disciplinary characteristics, served technological innovation, and is committed to providing a high-level academic exchange platform for experts and scholars. Standing at a new starting point, IJMMM will strive towards the goal of becoming a "world-class scientific journal" in the future.

Jiang Wei, Deputy Director of the IJMMM Journal Center, presented a 30-year work report on behalf of the editorial department. She elaborated on the journal's historical evolution, key work, major achievements, and future prospects, especially the remarkable achievements made with the support of the university's "Dingxin Strong Journal" development plan.

Zhang Tieming, Chairman of the China Association for Science and Technology Journals, and Yang Lu, Executive Publisher of Springer Nature Greater China, extended congratulations to the 30th anniversary of IJMMM.

Yang Renshu and Wu Aixiang presented the "Dingxin Young Scientist Award" to the winners for 2024. The 10 award-winning young scientists are Feng Qicheng, Gao Peng, Gao Zhiyong, Ji Cheng, Liu Xiaoming, Ren Ying, Feng Jing, Li Xuanhua, Wu Honghui, and Xu Dake.

Following the celebration conference, the 2024 Dingxin Technology Frontier Forum was held.

In the keynote speech, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering Xie Heping discussed the theme of "Academic Entrepreneurship of Academicians" and shared his interdisciplinary journey of "academic entrepreneurship" starting from scratch at the age of 63 when joining Shenzhen University. He systematically elaborated on bold explorations and continuous innovations in areas such as seawater hydrogen production, geothermal power generation, deep earth core sampling for mineral exploration, and near-zero emission coal-fired power generation new technologies. He emphasized that seawater hydrogen production and resource acquisition from deep earth are inevitable trends for future development. It is essential to gather strength to decisively win the key core technology breakthrough battle and achieve more scientific discoveries and technological inventions with a "starting from scratch" mindset.

Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences Zhang Yue presented on the topic "The 'Core' Path in the Post-Moore Era," systematically introducing the research background, significance, opportunities, challenges, and future prospects of advanced process integrated circuit two-dimensional semiconductor materials and manufacturing technology. He emphasized that China should seize the strategic opportunity period of information technology transformation and track transition, accelerate the pioneering breakthrough of key materials and manufacturing technologies from "0" to "1," vigorously seize the commanding heights and leadership in core technology in the new round of international competition, and open up the Chinese track for advanced process integrated circuits with key new materials.
