According to pulsestacks on April 18th, following last year's May 11th release of the Xperia 1 V, Sony seems poised to maintain a nearly identical release schedule in 2024. A poster leaked by Weibo user @zackbuks reveals that Sony will host a new Xperia product launch event on May 17th.
Pulsestacks noticed that the poster itself didn't reveal which specific phone would be unveiled at the event, but speculation is rife that one (or perhaps the only one) of them will be the Xperia 1 VI, which has been frequently rumored recently.
The blogger previously hinted that the Xperia 1 VI would ditch the 4K screen and the 21:9 ultra-wide aspect ratio in favor of a solution more in line with industry standards. Consequently, the Xperia 1 VI will be slightly wider than its predecessors. Additionally, the new device will feature the same rear camera module as the Xperia 1 V, with improvements likely through software processing, possibly incorporating some AI features.
In addition, the Xperia 1 VI is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, paired with at least 12GB of RAM.
