Smartphone Manufacturers Already Testing Snapdragon 8 Gen4: Dominating Android Benchmark Rankings

Sun, May 26 2024 07:54 PM EST

On May 25th, it was revealed by a chip expert that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen4 is built on TSMC's 3nm process technology.

Currently, smartphone manufacturers are testing the Snapdragon 8 Gen4. Based on benchmark scores, the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 is outperforming its competitor, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400, although the latter excels in power efficiency.

Reportedly, the biggest change in the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 is the adoption of Qualcomm's in-house Nuvia Phoenix architecture, with the CPU target frequency reaching an unprecedented 4.26GHz, delivering even stronger performance. Qualcomm aims to rival Apple's A18 Pro with this advancement.

Compared to the Arm reference architecture, the Nuvia Phoenix architecture boasts higher performance advantages. It is said that Qualcomm is very confident in the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 with the new architecture, and with TSMC's 3nm "N3E" process, the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 is expected to achieve its target frequency.

Executives have previously disclosed that using in-house CPUs can strike a balance between pricing, power consumption, and performance, although costs may increase, the performance will reach remarkable levels.

The chip expert also mentioned that OPPO and Xiaomi will be among the first to feature the Snapdragon 8 Gen4. Therefore, the Xiaomi 15 series, OPPO Find X8 series, and OnePlus 13 series are expected to be the initial flagship devices powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen4. ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdingyue.ws.126.net%2F2024%2F0525%2Fd8fe1ad5j00se1jbn000cd000go00b4g.jpg&thumbnail=660x2147483647&quality=80&type=jpg
