Sino-Indonesian Joint Expedition Sets New Deep-Sea Diving Record in Indonesia

In Jakarta, March 24th (Reporter: Cao Shiyun) – The Institute of Deep-Sea Science and Engineering of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, in collaboration with the Indonesian Agency for Research and Innovation, successfully completed a month-long joint expedition in the Java Trench. During the expedition, researchers from both countries utilized the "Striver" manned submersible to dive to a depth of 7178 meters, setting a new record for deep-sea diving in Indonesia.

The celebration ceremony for the "Sino-Indonesian Java Trench Joint Expedition" was held on March 22nd at Tanjung Priok Port in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Indonesian Minister of Maritime Affairs and Investment, Luhut, along with the Director of the Agency for Research and Innovation, Handojo, and Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia, Lu Kang, were among the attendees.

In his speech, Minister Luhut highlighted that this joint expedition marks a new chapter in strengthening maritime cooperation between the two countries. He expressed hope that both nations would seize this opportunity to further deepen and expand technological cooperation, aiming to cultivate more outstanding scientists and engineers in Indonesia.
