On March 30th, it was announced that several places including Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, and Zhongshan in Guangdong have officially entered summer.
According to the Guangzhou Weather Notice, as of March 29th, the 5-day sliding average temperature at the Guangzhou National Basic Station has exceeded 22°C for five consecutive days, officially marking the arrival of summer on March 23rd. This marks the earliest summer in Guangzhou since 1961.
Meanwhile, meteorological departments in Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, and other areas have also declared that they meet the criteria for the onset of summer. For example, Foshan officially entered summer on March 22nd, which is 18 days earlier than usual.
Entering summer refers to the beginning of the summer season. According to the "solar terms" system, summer begins with the solar term "立夏" (Lixia). According to the "temperature method" of defining seasons, summer starts when the average daily temperature rises steadily above 22°C for five consecutive days.
