Shenzhou-18 Astronauts to Conduct First Spacewalk

On May 27th, it was reported by the China Manned Space Engineering Office that since successfully docking with the space station on April 26, 2024, the Shenzhou-18 astronaut crew has been living and working in orbit for 32 days. They are scheduled to carry out their first spacewalk in the coming days.

Since their arrival at the space station, the Shenzhou-18 crew has completed tasks such as crew rotation with the Shenzhou-17 crew, maintenance of the space station platform, life support, health care, extravehicular spacesuit inspections, and spacewalk preparations. They have also conducted emergency pressure drills, medical rescue exercises, and various space science experiments steadily progressing as planned. The crew successfully installed the experimental equipment for the second extravehicular exposure experiment outside the module.

Currently, the Shenzhou-18 crew is in good condition, the space station is operating stably, and all conditions are set for the upcoming spacewalk.
