Shenzhen Unified Charging Standard for Power Banks: Minimum Free Duration Set at 5 Minutes

On March 12th, it was announced that while shared power banks provide convenience, their increasingly steep prices have deterred many, becoming a transparently priced "assassin" in modern times.

Recently, the Shenzhen Consumer Council issued the "Shenzhen Shared Power Bank Industry Self-discipline Convention."

It requires businesses to commit to providing a minimum of 5 minutes of free charging time for power bank rentals; the billing time unit for rentals should not exceed half an hour; and in cases where returning the power bank promptly is difficult due to location, companies may suspend billing after verification.

The highlight of this self-discipline convention is the unified and detailed regulation of billing time, setting the free charging time to a uniform 5 minutes. Consumers can return the power bank within 5 minutes without incurring charges, effectively addressing issues where consumers discover problems with charging but are unable to return the power bank promptly.

According to media reports, on the day of the release of the self-discipline convention for the Shenzhen shared power bank industry, representatives from seven companies including Jiedian, Soudian, Laidian, Beidian, Guaisi, Meituan, and Xiachong signed the convention on-site, committing to and largely implementing the content of the self-discipline convention (with some companies gradually implementing the half-hour billing time unit).

With the release of this self-discipline convention, it is expected that more power bank brands and locations will join in the future. s_c8eca2d8fc2c478baf9f89c4a7e65568.jpg
