On March 25th, it was announced that Shanghai is gearing up for another world-class mega project known as the "Eastern Hub," located in the southeast corner of the city.

The future "Eastern Hub" will integrate Shanghai East Railway Station, Shanghai Pudong International Airport, and urban rail transit to create a large-scale comprehensive transportation hub with deep air-rail integration.

The planned "Eastern Hub" will cover a total area of 155 square kilometers, which is nearly equivalent to 1/40 of the total area of Shanghai, highlighting its grandeur.

Specific plans include the commencement of construction at Shanghai East Railway Station, which will encompass 14 platforms and 30 lines, with a total construction area of approximately 1.38 million square meters.

Furthermore, the "Eastern Hub" plans to increase the annual passenger throughput capacity by 50 million for air travel and has outlined plans for "5 city-wide lines + 2 urban lines + multiple local lines," with a total investment of up to 150 billion CNY.

Of note, in the future, foreign nationals entering the area from Pudong International Airport on international flights, as long as they hold valid invitations, will be eligible for a 30-day visa-free stay in the designated area, injecting more vitality into the Shanghai hub region. s_aee14c5bad2d418d81515b25f036e12e.jpg
