On April 17th, it was reported that last year, semiconductor equipment expenditure in Mainland China accounted for approximately one-third of the global total.

According to data from SEMI, a semiconductor industry organization, global sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment reached $106.3 billion in 2023, slightly down by 1.3% compared to the historical peak of $107.6 billion in 2022.

By region, Mainland China remains the largest semiconductor equipment market globally, investing $36.6 billion in the sector last year, marking a 29% increase and capturing 34.43% of the global market.

It is understood that Mainland China extensively adopts mature process semiconductors above 28 nanometers in various fields such as automotive, already accounting for 29% of global production capacity.

Affected by export controls on advanced equipment from countries like the United States, Mainland China has begun to expand investments in mature processes. It is expected that by 2027, the capacity share of mature processes will reach 39%.

According to institutional statistics, semiconductor manufacturers in Mainland China saw a 12% year-on-year increase in capacity in 2023, reaching 7.6 million wafers per month. It is projected that by 2024, Mainland China will initiate 18 projects, with capacity growing by 13% year-on-year to reach 8.6 million wafers per month. s_e5d778a3d0aa4705b57c8fd2ee49b837.jpg
