RTX 5090/5080 Side by Side! Power Consumption Tested Up to 600W

On May 11th, there have been various speculations about the release of the RTX 50 series. Some suggest only the RTX 5090 will debut this year, while others propose the RTX 5080 will precede the RTX 5090. This uncertainty indicates that NVIDIA has yet to make a final decision and is still weighing various options.

According to the latest leaks, both the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 are expected to be announced on paper simultaneously, but their market releases may be staggered by a few weeks, with the RTX 5080 likely taking the lead.

This scenario is reminiscent of the RTX 30 series in 2020, where the RTX 3080 made its debut on September 16th, followed by the RTX 3090 on September 24th. s_31504541c9ea46389dde1ca4a658217a.jpg At the same time, NVIDIA has begun testing the cooling system for the RTX 50 FE reference card, with up to 4 different configurations, ranging from a minimum cooling capacity of 250W to a maximum of 600W.

Of course, the actual power consumption of the graphics card may not necessarily be that high, as these designs are typically over-engineered, but it also suggests that the RTX 50 series may still run quite warm.

During the testing of the RTX 4090, NVIDIA designed a massive cooler with three fans and four slots, boasting an impressive cooling capacity of up to 800W, while the unlockable power limit could also reach 600W. s_9a11f62eeade41fca2069af22d146f65.jpg
