The Blackwell RTX 50 series graphics cards are expected to wait until the end of this year or even early next year. After all, Huang is focused on AI GPU accelerators. So, what changes can we expect in the RTX 40 series after the SUPER versions? There are some, but not quite significant.
According to reliable sources, three models of the RTX 4060 and 4070 series will undergo a special "upgrade", with no apparent specification changes but a change in "core".
RTX 4060: Core changed from AD107-400 to AD106-255.
RTX 4060 Ti: Core changed from AD106-351 to AD104-150-KX.
RTX 4070: Core changed from AD104-251 to AD103-175-KX.
The changes in all three models follow a similar pattern of upgrading the GPU core to a more advanced version. However, theoretically, the CUDA core count may remain the same, and even the frequencies might not change.
So, what's the point of this tweaking? Is it to make better use of defective chips?
