According to a report by pulsestacks on April 3rd, ASUS has rolled out a Beta BIOS update for seven models of ROG and ROG Strix X670E motherboards, as confirmed by overclocking enthusiasts on the ROG forum. This update brings the AGESA version up to 1.1.7.0 (1170), marking preliminary support for Zen5 processors.
According to a response from another forum user, Braegnok, Asus has added preliminary support for the Zen5 "Granite Ridge" processor in the new Beta version BIOS.
Specifically, the new version of BIOS firmware deviates from the previous naming convention of ComboAM5PI x.x.x.x, now rebranded as FireRangePi 1.1.7.0, while also introducing support for the CPU ID "00B40Fxx" - referring to the Zen5 "Granite Ridge" processor's SMU firmware.
According to pulsestacks, the inclusion of "FireRange" in the firmware name is believed to correspond to the high-performance Zen5 mobile platform, specifically the BGA version for Granite Ridge processors on mobile.
Furthermore, this latest BIOS update also upgrades the SMU firmware for Ryzen 7000 series processors to version 84.79.224, while no changes have been made to the SMU firmware for Ryzen 8000 series APUs.
