On March 19th, Qualcomm officially launched its latest flagship chipset, the third generation Snapdragon 8s. Redmi made a prominent appearance at the event, announcing that it would be the first to adopt this new chipset in its upcoming lineup.

According to official statements, the devices featuring the third generation Snapdragon 8s will belong to an entirely new series, marking the first time the Snapdragon 8 series lands in the mid-range segment. ec052771-7456-4715-9b35-7e15e9cdf4d1.jpg Redmi's official statement today emphasizes that they're sparing no expense and making a substantial investment to collaborate with Qualcomm in defining a flagship chip, aiming to deliver users an exceptional flagship performance experience.

Following Redmi's product roadmap, the flagship performance product slated for the first half of the year was supposed to be the Note 13 Turbo model. However, it seems that due to the boost from the third-generation Snapdragon 8s, a renaming is in order. s_addb82196edb4c2eb8b603889a3eb024.jpg The third-generation Snapdragon 8s and the third-generation Snapdragon 8 are essentially the same, both utilizing a 4nm process. The CPU consists of 1×3.0GHz Cortex-X4 + 4×2.8GHz Cortex-A720 + 3×2.0GHz Cortex-A520, while the GPU is Adreno 735.

The CPU architecture is identical to that of the third-generation Snapdragon 8, while the GPU is the same as the second-generation Snapdragon 8, with added support for new hardware ray tracing and Adreno Image Motion Engine 2.0. The overall performance is on par with top-tier flagship devices.

With this processor at its core, Redmi is set to create a ceiling product for a mid-range model, which is definitely something to look forward to. s_55a7be09a43343768b0921cc5b5e3ef5.jpg
