On May 27th, it was revealed that today, Huang Yongqiang, the General Manager of GAC Passenger Cars, disclosed the latest news about the joint innovation project between GAC Trumpchi and Huawei on social media, unveiling the rendering of the new car.
From the production concept rendering shown, the new car's positioning aligns with the previously official promotion of a large luxury flagship sedan. It adopts a brand-new design style, with an overall look that is very sleek and dynamic. The front face features a closed grille and a highly recognizable light strip running through it, showcasing a clear new energy temperament.
The collaboration between GAC and Huawei this time is actually a reunion. As early as 2021, GAC Aion and Huawei announced that they would jointly develop a vehicle with the codename "AH8," positioning it as a large smart pure electric SUV. It will be equipped with Huawei's full-stack smart car solution, including intelligent driving and intelligent cockpit under the Huawei HI mode. The plan is to start mass production by the end of 2023.
In 2023, GAC suddenly announced that the AH8 project would be independently developed by GAC Aion, featuring self-developed smart cockpit and autonomous driving systems. Huawei's role shifted from a collaborative developer to a key supplier. This marked the end of their partnership, with the planned vehicle models remaining unrealized to this day.
However, with Huawei's strong push into the automotive industry, especially with Wanjie's powerful rise, the map of Hongmeng Intelligent Travel Four Realms is set. Huawei has successively reached cooperation with Chery, Chang'an, Jianghuai, Dongfeng, and others, making its momentum stronger and attracting more attention from car manufacturers.
It is reported that at this year's Beijing Auto Show, GAC Trumpchi announced that Trumpchi and Huawei will join forces to launch the Trumpchi-Huawei Joint Innovation Program, combining Trumpchi's i-GTEC 2.0 with the Qiankun Intelligent Driving System ADS 3.0, and the new generation of Hongmeng cockpit and other cutting-edge technologies.
The latest news revealed by Huang Yongqiang once again confirms this point: The first model of the joint innovation plan between GAC Trumpchi and Huawei will be equipped with Huawei's new generation HarmonyOS cockpit and the Qiankun intelligent driving system ADS 3.0.
