On May 27, Qingdao held a matchmaking event for the application of large AI models in the context of "AI + Ocean" artificial intelligence.

The meeting, themed "AI Empowering the Ocean, Scenes Generating New Quality," brought together relevant national, Shandong Province, and Qingdao municipal departments including the North Sea Bureau of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the Information Center of the Ministry of Natural Resources, the National Marine Information Center, the National Satellite Ocean Application Center, and the National Marine Technology Center. Thirty leading enterprises in the field of large AI models such as Huawei, Tencent, TikTok, iFlytek, and National Reality Technology, as well as fifty key enterprises in the marine sector such as China Shipbuilding Group, CNOOC Engineering, and Shandong Ports, engaged in precise matchmaking to explore the innovative application and development of large AI models. This initiative aims to facilitate the rapid implementation, commercialization, and industrialization of more innovative applications of large AI models, thereby jointly promoting the high-quality development of the marine economy. 66547243e4b03b5da6d0f929.jpg The Qingdao Municipal Ocean Development Bureau provided the image of the conference venue.

Geng Tao, member of the Qingdao Municipal Party Committee and Deputy Mayor, introduced Qingdao's efforts to establish a world-class ocean artificial intelligence mega-model industrial cluster, striving to lead in the new wave of artificial intelligence development. The next step involves fully utilizing the existing ocean industry fund, exploring the establishment of an ocean mega-model industrial fund, actively introducing relevant policies, optimizing the business environment, providing high-quality services, and attracting more market entities, teams, and individuals to participate in the development of the ocean artificial intelligence mega-model industry.

Meng Qingsheng, Secretary of the Party Group and Director of the Qingdao Municipal Ocean Development Bureau, introduced the guiding document for the country's first systematic planning and promotion of the ocean artificial intelligence mega-model cluster area - the "Implementation Plan for the Construction of the Qingdao Ocean Artificial Intelligence Mega-Model Industrial Cluster Area (2024-2026)." Qingdao will focus on five goals: building a source of technological innovation, a support base for key elements, a gathering place for leading enterprises, a demonstration site for application scenarios, and an optimized industrial ecosystem. Five actions will be implemented to promote the deep integration of "artificial intelligence + ocean" and to create a globally competitive world-class ocean artificial intelligence industrial cluster.

During the introduction session, experts from Huawei Group, Tsinghua University, National University of Defense Technology, and Qingdao National Institute of Information and Technology respectively introduced the "Pangu" ocean mega-model, "AI-GOMS" mega-model, "Xihe" ocean forecasting mega-model, and "Wenhai" mega-model.

The conference also featured introductions to ocean artificial intelligence scenarios, with the National Meteorological Center, Shandong Port Group Co., Ltd., Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Group, and the Marine Biomedical Research Institute releasing big data scenarios based on their respective needs. Multiple developers and users of mega-models engaged in face-to-face exchanges to discuss data model development and application cooperation. Participants also extensively discussed specific application scenarios of ocean artificial intelligence mega-model technology in various fields such as smart port construction, biomedical research and development, and marine management and governance, providing attendees with a rare opportunity to gain in-depth insights into ocean artificial intelligence.

The conference also included a session for discussing and exchanging ideas on scenario applications. Experts from the Chinese Academy of Information and Communications Technology's Institute of Artificial Intelligence presented the roadmap for implementing mega-models, engaging in discussions and exchanges with participating departments, universities, research institutes, and leading enterprises regarding scenario development and application.

Participants expressed their commitment to continuously optimize the ocean mega-model, enhancing performance based on user feedback and market changes, closely monitoring international advancements in mega-model technology, and collectively advancing the construction of the Qingdao Ocean Artificial Intelligence Mega-Model Cluster Area by transplanting and upgrading advanced technologies to the ocean mega-model.
