Whether it was coordinated or just a coincidence, IDC and Canalys both released their reports on the global PC market for the first quarter of 2024 on the same day. According to IDC, global PC shipments reached 59.8 million units in Q1 2024, marking a 1.5% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, Canalys reported that global PC shipments for the same period totaled 57.2 million units, representing a 3.2% year-on-year growth. ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdingyue.ws.126.net%2F2024%2F0409%2F5e03ef54j00sbntgn0064d000ly00c3m.jpg&thumbnail=660x2147483647&quality=80&type=jpg According to IDC, the global PC market has begun to rebound in the first quarter of 2024 after experiencing consecutive declines for two years. Here's how the rankings stack up:

  1. Lenovo: shipped 13.7 million units, capturing 23% market share, with a year-on-year growth of 7.8%.
  2. HP: shipped 12 million units, holding a 20.1% market share, with a marginal year-on-year growth of 0.2%.
  3. Dell: shipped 9.3 million units, commanding a 15.5% market share, witnessing a decline of 2.2% compared to the same period last year.
  4. Apple: shipped 4.8 million units, claiming an 8.1% market share, enjoying a substantial year-on-year growth of 14.6%.
  5. Acer: shipped 3.7 million units, capturing a 6.2% market share, with a growth of 9.2% compared to the previous year.
  6. Asus: shipped 3.6 million units, holding a 6.1% market share, experiencing a decline of 4.5% compared to the same period last year.

Furthermore, IDC noted that global PC demand increased during this quarter, mainly due to the low base effect from the first quarter of 2023, which saw a nearly 30% year-on-year decline. ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdingyue.ws.126.net%2F2024%2F0409%2Fb94a7ca2j00sbntgm002ed000p000e2m.jpg&thumbnail=660x2147483647&quality=80&type=jpg Canalys' and IDC's data may differ slightly, but the overall rankings are consistent.

  1. Lenovo: shipped 13.74 million units, with a market share of 24.0% and a year-on-year growth of 7.8%.
  2. HP: shipped 12.01 million units, with a market share of 21.0% and a year-on-year growth of 0.3%.
  3. Dell: shipped 9.27 million units, with a market share of 16.2% and a year-on-year decline of 2.2%.
  4. Apple: shipped 5.36 million units, with a market share of 9.4% and a year-on-year growth of 2.5%.
  5. Acer: shipped 3.73 million units, with a market share of 6.5% and a year-on-year growth of 5.8%.

Both IDC and Canalys data indicate that all brands except Dell experienced growth year-on-year. ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdingyue.ws.126.net%2F2024%2F0409%2Fe29dd751j00sbntgm002td000xc00p0m.jpg&thumbnail=660x2147483647&quality=80&type=jpg From the data provided by these two companies, it is evident that Lenovo remains the undisputed No.1 in the global PC market, with a significant lead. Especially in Q1 of this year, its growth rate surpassed that of HP, and currently, there seems to be no one capable of putting pressure on Lenovo. However, we can also observe that the PC market is still dominated by traditional brands, making it quite challenging for new players to break into the global top five.
