April 7th, - Procter & Gamble, the global household name in consumer goods, has announced a recall of 8.2 million bags of laundry detergent in the United States and Canada due to packaging defects.
According to reports, the recall affects multiple products under brands such as Tide, Gain, Ace, and Ariel, manufactured between September 2023 and February 2024.
According to notices issued by Procter & Gamble and product safety regulatory agencies in the United States and Canada, the recall is due to issues with the child-resistant packaging of laundry detergent powder.
Media reports indicate that the outer packaging may tear near the zipper track, exposing children to the chemical substances in the detergent, potentially leading to seizures, coma, severe respiratory issues, eye injuries, and burns.
During the recall period of the batch of products, four incidents involving children coming into contact with laundry detergent in the United States have been reported, including three cases of ingestion. Approximately 8.2 million bags of these products were sold in the United States, and over 56,700 bags were sold in Canada. Procter & Gamble will issue full refunds for the recalled products and provide replacement child-resistant packaging for detergent storage.
