Over two months late! The first typhoon of the year, "In-fa," is on its way

On May 25th, according to China Weather Network, the center of a tropical low-pressure system near the Philippines was located this morning at 5 o'clock about 580 kilometers southeast of Manila, Philippines.

Specifically, it is located at 11.5 degrees north latitude and 125.3 degrees east longitude, with maximum winds near the center reaching force 7 (15 meters per second) and a minimum central pressure of 1002 hPa.

It is expected that this low-pressure system will move northwestward at a speed of about 20 kilometers per hour and may strengthen into the first typhoon of the year, "In-fa," within the next 24 hours.

On the 26th and 27th, it will turn northeastward over the eastern seas east of Luzon Island in the Philippines.

Experts point out that historically, the first typhoon to make landfall in China usually occurs between June and July, while the first typhoon to form typically appears even earlier.

The average date for the first typhoon formation is March 16th, making this year's arrival over two months behind schedule.

The main reason for this delay is attributed to the stronger-than-usual subtropical high pressure system, which is positioned further north, suppressing typhoon formation. s_4a3e73f4974442938a4ebfd40690d55c.jpg
