Oriental Selection Responds to Allegations of Sulphur Dioxide Exceeding Standards in South American Shrimp by 7 Times: Baseless and Malicious

La Mu Mon, Apr 22 2024 07:43 PM EST

On April 15th, Oriental Selection responded to the circulating rumors regarding their self-operated South American shrimp allegedly containing sulphur dioxide levels exceeding standards by 7 times. They stated that these rumors were fabricated with malicious intent, severely damaging Oriental Selection's reputation and causing distress to some customers.

Oriental Selection issued a stern statement, the full text of which is as follows:

Recently, we have observed individuals spreading rumors across various online platforms, claiming that Oriental Selection's South American shrimp concealed additives and had sulphur dioxide levels exceeding national standards by 7 times. Such baseless accusations have significantly tarnished Oriental Selection's reputation and caused inconvenience to some of our customers.

The South American shrimp offered by Oriental Selection is a product that has grown with the support and companionship of numerous customers. Since the beginning of the year, this product has faced scrutiny from certain professional counterfeit exposers. We have diligently verified these claims, subjected the product to retesting, and undergone multiple inspections by relevant authorities.

All these tests have yielded results compliant with national standards, confirming that the product does not exceed sulphur dioxide limits, and its labeling adheres to regulations. The quality of our product stands the test.

Initially, we refrained from addressing these unfounded allegations. However, it has become evident that failing to respond could cause unnecessary concern among some customers and embolden these individuals to continue spreading falsehoods.

We would like to provide the following factual updates to our friends:

  1. Oriental Selection's South American shrimp is directly imported from Ecuador and undergoes strict scrutiny by Chinese port authorities before entering the market. The product must pass inspections in line with national standards to be sold in China. Additionally, to ensure product quality, we conduct frequent random inspections, all of which have consistently met national standards.

  2. In February and March of this year, various regulatory bodies conducted multiple random inspections of Oriental Selection's South American shrimp, with no less than 10 batches sampled. Feedback received confirmed that all sampled shrimp met national standards, with no instances of sulphur dioxide exceeding limits, thus allowing the products to remain on the market.

Regulatory authorities have thoroughly reviewed all import procedures and business details related to Oriental Selection's South American shrimp, with results consistently meeting regulations.

These facts demonstrate that the allegations circulating online against Oriental Selection's South American shrimp are baseless, and the claim made by Mr. Liu Jiang regarding sulphur dioxide exceeding standards by 7 times is entirely unfounded.

Regarding Mr. Liu Jiang's false statements, we have gathered evidence and will pursue legal action to vigorously defend the company's legitimate rights. Please rest assured that Oriental Selection will continue to rigorously control the quality of our self-operated products to ensure food safety standards are upheld.
