According to media reports, the American fund Oaktree Capital recently announced that it has taken over Inter Milan due to Inter Milan Holdings failing to repay the loan and interest.
As per the official announcement, the loan was due on May 21, 2024, with a total amount of approximately 395 million euros.
In May 2021, Inter Milan, owned by Suning Holdings, obtained a three-year loan from Oaktree Capital worth 275 million euros with an annual interest rate of 12%.
A loan is secured by Inter Milan's equity. If Suning fails to repay the principal and interest on time, Oaktree Capital has the right to enforce the pledge of Inter Milan's equity, thereby becoming the club's owner.
Records show that on June 6, 2016, Suning announced the acquisition of Inter Milan Football Club.
In October 2018, 26-year-old Zhang Kangyang became the youngest chairman in the history of Inter Milan Football Club.
