Popal noted that Apple's sales dropped by 10% in the first quarter of this year, primarily due to setbacks in the Chinese market, while its competitor Samsung reclaimed the top position in global smartphone shipments.

According to IDC's report, global smartphone shipments grew by 7.8% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024, reaching 289.4 million units.

The top five in shipments were Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, Transsion, and OPPO, with Apple experiencing a 9.6% year-on-year decline, slipping to second place, while Samsung, despite a 0.7% decline, reclaimed the top spot.

IDC believes that although the industry has not completely overcome challenges, with many markets still facing macroeconomic difficulties, the consecutive growth in shipments for the third quarter is strong evidence of a successful recovery.

Furthermore, IDC stated that while Samsung and Apple maintain high market shares in the high-end segment, the resurgence of Huawei in China, along with significant shipment growth from Xiaomi, Transsion, OPPO, OnePlus, and vivo, may prompt these two manufacturers to explore diversification. s_3d0846589c33496e9f79a785e69f84b4.jpg
