On March 12th, NVIDIA's founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, often referred to as "Leather Jacket Huang" by many internet users due to his habitual wearing of a black leather jacket, responded to the origins of this sartorial choice during a series of events at his alma mater, Stanford University, earlier in March.
Huang openly admitted that the leather jacket in question was purchased for him by his wife. He confessed to rarely engaging in personal shopping and expressed contentment with the quality of the jacket, suggesting that if someone disliked it, they could buy him another one; otherwise, he would continue to wear leather jackets.
Born on February 17th, 1963, in Tainan City, Taiwan, Jensen Huang graduated from Oregon State University and later earned his master's degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.
He held various positions, including as a chip engineer, at companies like AMD and LSI Logic. In 1993, Huang founded NVIDIA, and in 1999, the company pioneered the GPU, a technology that defined modern computer graphics and later revolutionary parallel computing.
Under Huang's leadership, NVIDIA has experienced significant stock growth over the past year, surpassing a market capitalization of over $2 trillion. His personal net worth has also exceeded $70 billion, placing him among the top twenty richest individuals globally. Despite this, his personal life and spending habits remain modest.
Furthermore, Huang has received numerous prestigious awards, including the Robert Noyce Award from the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), the IEEE Founders Medal, and the Dr. Morris Chang Exemplary Leadership Award.
