On March 7th, the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University held a conference to announce the appointment of new academic and administrative leaders, as well as to facilitate the transition between outgoing and incoming personnel.
At the meeting, Deputy Minister of the Organization Department of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen University, Pan Rong, announced the "Notice of Appointment and Removal of Lin Tianxin and Others at Sun Yat-sen University," appointing Comrade Lin Tianxin as the Dean of the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University. Chen Chunsong, Secretary of the Party Committee of Sun Yat-sen University, presented the cadre appointment letter to Comrade Lin Tianxin.
Lin Tianxin, the new Dean of the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, delivered his inaugural speech. He expressed firm obedience to the decision of the university's party committee and gratitude for the cultivation, trust, help, and support from the party organization and colleagues. He pointed out that as the only directly affiliated hospital on the west bank of the Pearl River Estuary under the educational pattern of three campuses and five campuses of the university, the Fifth Hospital carries infinite expectations. After more than 20 years of development, the hospital has achieved remarkable results, which is a testament to the efforts of successive leadership teams and generations of cadres and workers, especially since the "13th Five-Year Plan," various works such as medical treatment, education, research, management, and production have yielded fruitful results. He thanked the members of the hospital's leadership team and all staff for their hard work.
He emphasized that 2024 marks the centenary of Sun Yat-sen University, and the hospital's development should always be in line with the university's development, with a focus on the overall interests of the country. The National Two Sessions and the Provincial High-Quality Development Conference have outlined the direction for the high-quality development of the hospital. Currently, the hospital is facing significant historical development opportunities with the superimposition of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the modernization and internationalization of the economic special zone, the Hengqin Free Trade Zone, and the Hengqin Guangdong-Macao Deep Cooperation Zone. It must effectively undertake the mission of being the vanguard and leader of world-class university-affiliated hospitals, fulfilling the expectations and responsibilities of the organization.
Miao Wei, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, made a statement on behalf of the hospital. He expressed firm support for the decision of the university's party committee and heartfelt thanks to the university for its longstanding concern and support for the hospital's construction and development. At the same time, Secretary Miao Wei thanked Du Hong for his outstanding contributions to the hospital's development.

Lin Tianxin, Assistant to the President of Sun Yat-sen University, Dean of the Fifth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, Vice Director of the Medical School of Sun Yat-sen University, a second-level professor, chief physician, and doctoral supervisor. He is also a standing member and secretary-general of the Urology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, Vice President of the Urology Physicians Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, and Director of the Urology Branch of the Guangdong Medical Association. Lin Tianxin is a recipient of the National Distinguished Youth Science Foundation, National Innovation Award, leader of the "Ten Thousand Talents Program" by the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committee for technological innovation, Chief Scientist of the National Key R&D Program (Synthetic Biology), outstanding young and middle-aged experts in health contributions recognized by the National Health Commission, leading young and middle-aged science and technology innovation talents recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, and recipient of the Wu Jieping Urology Surgery Medical Award. As the principal investigator, he has won the first prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award, the first prize of the Guangdong Medical Science and Technology Award, and the Furun Award of Sun Yat-sen University.
