According to public information, Shoufei Zhu was born in November 1977 in Taihe County, Anhui Province. He holds a doctorate and is a member of the Communist Party of China. He is a professor at the School of Chemistry at Nankai University and a Specially Appointed Professor by the Ministry of Education.

In 2000 and 2005, he received his Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Science degrees from the School of Chemistry at Nankai University, respectively. From 2012 to 2013, he did postdoctoral research at the University of Tokyo in Japan. He has worked at the School of Chemistry at Nankai University since 2005 and was promoted to professor in 2013. He has served as Dean of the School of Chemistry and Deputy Dean of the Graduate School at Nankai University.

Dr. Zhu has been engaged in the study of catalytic organic synthesis chemistry for a long time. He has focused on several types of important organic synthesis reactions with hydrogen transfer as a key step. He has proposed the concept of "chiral proton shuttle," providing a new solution for asymmetric proton transfer reactions catalyzed by metals. He has discovered the insertion reaction of catalytic carbenes into boron-hydrogen bonds, providing a new method for the synthesis of organic boron compounds. He has developed various efficient catalysts for alkene hydrogenation and silylation reactions, achieving the efficient synthesis of multiple biologically active molecules.
