On May 23rd, the Nanjing Market Supervision Bureau publicly announced the city's first case involving illegal activities in the field of electric bicycles being listed in the serious violation of trust list.

The report stated that on March 27th this year, law enforcement officers from the Liuhe District Market Supervision Bureau inspected the Xu Yitao Electric Vehicle Repair Shop in Liuhe District, Nanjing, and found that three Xiao Dao brand TDT02330Z electric bicycles on sale were suspected of being modified.

In order to facilitate sales, the individuals dismantled the original battery boxes of the three electric bicycles and installed larger battery boxes purchased independently, providing convenience for future battery installations. The actual type of storage battery used did not match the qualification certificate, posing a safety hazard.

The individuals had previously been administratively penalized by the Liuhe District Bureau on January 25, 2024, for altering the appearance structure by adding saddles to electric bicycles, affecting safety devices. They had also participated in the electric bicycle training organized by the Liuhe District Bureau and should have known that selling modified electric bicycles is illegal.

The illegal actions of the individuals meet the criteria for heavier administrative penalties as stipulated in Article 16, Paragraph 1, Item (3) of the "Guiding Opinions on Administrative Penalties for Regulating Market Supervision and Management." Therefore, the Liuhe District Bureau decided to impose heavier penalties on the individuals.

In accordance with Article 36 of the "Jiangsu Province Electric Bicycle Management Regulations," the Liuhe District Bureau lawfully imposed a fine of 40,000 yuan on the individuals and listed them in the serious violation of trust list in accordance with Articles 2 and 7, Item (6) of the "Measures for the Administration of Serious Violations of Trust in Market Supervision and Management." s_a0c14d60de2d457aa716a48b103b4c34.png
