On April 16th, the topic of "admission exceptions with a math score above 140 in the college entrance examination" has sparked widespread discussion among netizens.

In response, media investigations revealed that the source of the news may stem from enrollment brochures released by a group of prestigious universities nationwide, outlining their "Strong Foundation Plan" for admissions.

The "Strong Foundation Plan" refers to a reform pilot in basic subjects conducted by some renowned universities, such as Tsinghua University, Peking University, and 37 other prestigious institutions.

The universities rumored to admit students with a math score above 140 include Northwestern Polytechnical University, National University of Defense Technology, Beijing Institute of Technology, Central South University, Jilin University, and several other 985 universities.

Essentially, these universities have opened up an alternative admission pathway for college entrance examinees, though it's not necessarily an easy route judging from their admission requirements.

For instance, Northwestern Polytechnical University requires a math score of 145 or above, and the college entrance examination score should be 4-5 times the provincial enrollment plan.

The National University of Defense Technology sets the bar at a math score of 147 or above, with the score being 3 to 5 times the provincial enrollment plan.

Furthermore, after meeting the math score threshold, some universities also conduct written tests and interviews.

Industry insiders point out that students who excel in mathematics are unlikely to perform poorly in other subjects, and achieving a math score above 140 is rare in many top-tier universities. S64315f31-31a6-4c67-905a-08755fd8179c.jpg
