On May 23rd, MSI teased its new motherboard, the "Z790 Project Zero Plus," which happens to be the world's first desktop motherboard equipped with DDR5 CAMM2 memory!

CAMM, short for "Compression Attached Memory Module," has been adopted by the JEDEC organization as an industry standard. Its main feature, compared to traditional SO-DIMM and DIMM memory, is the elimination of slots, leading to higher integration and a thickness that is up to 57% thinner than SO-DIMM. Moreover, a single module can form a dual channel.

Currently supporting DDR5, LPDDR5, and LPDDR5X, with a single module capacity of up to 256GB and frequencies reaching 6400MHz, which are expected to increase further in the future. JEDEC is also researching LPDDR6 CAMM2. s_457788741d9243ad8274e595ae12ce7e.jpg The MSI motherboard is equipped with DDR5 CAMM2 memory from Kingston's Fury Impact series. However, specific details regarding capacity and frequency specifications have not been disclosed as it is still in the prototype stage, but it is capable of overclocking.

Moreover, given the name "Project Zero," this board features a back-insert design, with interfaces and connectors located at the back, resulting in a cleaner front panel, especially when paired with CAMM2 memory, creating a sleek and tidy appearance. f32ba1e6-737a-423b-8ad0-0b3d56bebe0f.jpg
