April 8th report: Another plug-in hybrid SUV geared towards family use is on its way. Today, the official images of the Dongfeng Yipai eπ008 have been released, with its debut set to take place during this month's Beijing Auto Show.
Similar to the already-launched Yipai eπ007, the new vehicle also adopts a completely new family-oriented design language. However, there have been improvements in its positioning. It features the currently popular integrated light group design, but unlike the common halo style seen in the market, it is composed of a matrix light source internally, enhancing its recognition factor.
The vehicle is positioned as a mid-to-large size SUV, measuring 5002/1972/1732mm in length, width, and height respectively, with a wheelbase of 3025mm. Its side profile features a distinct design, leaning somewhat towards an MPV-style, which ensures ample interior space, especially in the third row.
The rear end of the new car echoes the front face, with a continuous tail light design featuring a matrix-style layout, exuding a strong sense of futurism and technology. The distinct layering of the rear enhances visual richness.
As for the interior of the vehicle, official details haven't been disclosed at this time. However, based on spy shots, its overall design seems to follow in the footsteps of the Yipai eπ007, featuring a minimalist design approach. Expect to see a dual-spoke multifunction steering wheel, a floating instrument panel, and a central control screen, with hardly any physical buttons in sight.
In terms of power, the new car offers two options: plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and pure electric. The PHEV model will feature a combination of a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and an electric motor, with the engine delivering a maximum power of 108 kW and a pure electric range of 154 km. As for the pure electric version, it will be equipped with an electric motor delivering a maximum power of 200 kW and a range of 636 km.
