On May 25th, it was announced that the current human manual record for solving a 3x3 Rubik's Cube is 3.13 seconds. However, when it comes to using AI, even the best human solvers are left in the dust.

The official X account of Guinness World Records Japan released a video showcasing a robot developed by Mitsubishi Electric that can solve a Rubik's Cube with six sides at lightning speed. The robot achieved a Guinness World Record certification by solving the cube in just 0.305 seconds, which is literally in the blink of an eye.

This robot utilizes AI to instantly differentiate between similar colors like red and orange squares, enabling it to analyze the fewest steps needed to solve the cube and execute the rotation process with high-precision motors that can rotate 90 degrees in 0.009 seconds.

With a final solving time of 0.305 seconds, the robot surpassed the previous record set by American researchers by 0.075 seconds, setting a new world record in Rubik's Cube solving.

This impressive robot won't just be used for solving Rubik's Cubes. Developers mentioned that the experience gained from this project will be leveraged to enhance machine performance, drive IT and energy efficiency in factories, and increase production output. s_41c64e69418249bf8307b430b19c4883.png
