Recently, Guangdong's 7-Eleven partnered with Meituan's drones, allowing over 3,000 products from convenience stores to be accessible for drone delivery, including nearly a hundred types of fresh food from 7-Eleven. Currently, consumers in the Longgang Xinghe commercial district in Shenzhen can select 7-Eleven products at drone landing sites and opt for drone delivery, with goods reaching the landing site in as fast as 4 minutes after packing. In the future, as more stores come online, this service will extend to cover more scenarios such as tourist spots and universities. In 2024, 7-Eleven in Guangdong has already been operating over 1700 stores across 13 cities in the province, striving to provide more timely and convenient digital services. Faced with the constantly changing Chinese market, not only tech companies, but also Guangdong 7-Eleven has further achieved digital transformation, adapting to the changes of the times, continuously challenging, and boldly innovating.
In recent years, domestic consumers' demand for "everything delivered to your door" has been steadily increasing. Data from the E-commerce Institute of the Ministry of Commerce shows that the domestic instant retail market has maintained an average annual growth rate of over 50% for many years. However, the surge in market demand has also brought new challenges, such as the continuous growth of traffic pressure on urban road networks, resulting in delivery delays during peak hours.
Through cooperation with Meituan's unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Guangdong 7-Eleven can leverage the power of technology to more effectively reshape the "social distance" with consumers, allowing the delivery process to no longer be affected by road conditions, improving delivery efficiency. In the future, it can also penetrate into new scenarios such as tourist attractions, better meeting the needs of consumers.
