Media Test: Tesla Cybertruck Automatic Gear Shifting with Cameras Assisting Forward and Reverse Maneuvers

On April 21st, it was reported that all new Tesla models currently adopt screen-based gear shifting, a feature that has been criticized by many owners for its lack of intuitiveness and convenience.

However, Tesla's use of screen-based shifting is actually laying the groundwork for its automatic gear shifting technology. Recently, automotive enthusiasts conducted a practical test on the Tesla Cybertruck's automatic gear shifting capabilities.

According to their findings, this Cybertruck is equipped with a feature called "Auto Shift out of Park," which utilizes front and rear cameras to determine whether the vehicle should be in drive or reverse.

During the test, it was observed that when the Cybertruck is in Park mode and there is a vehicle in front, once the driver depresses the brake pedal, the vehicle automatically shifts into reverse. Upon releasing the brake, the Cybertruck starts reversing.

Similarly, when there is a vehicle behind the Cybertruck, engaging Park mode and depressing the brake pedal results in the vehicle automatically shifting into Drive. Pressing the accelerator pedal then propels the Cybertruck forward without the need for manual gear shifting.

This comprehensive solution to Tesla's screen-based gear shifting is yet to be rolled out via OTA updates for vehicles in certain regions.

However, there are concerns among some internet users regarding the effectiveness and safety of automatic gear shifting, particularly during slow and intricate parking maneuvers that require frequent braking and adjustments.
