On April 3rd, according to the official measurement by the China Earthquake Networks Center, a magnitude 7.3 earthquake struck offshore Hualien County in Taiwan, China, at 7:58 a.m. (local time). The epicenter was located at approximately 23.81 degrees north latitude and 121.74 degrees east longitude, with a depth of 12 kilometers.

There are no villages within 20 kilometers of the epicenter, and no townships or town centers within 100 kilometers.

The epicenter is 22 kilometers from Shoufeng Township, 24 kilometers from Jian Township, 26 kilometers from Hualien City, 29 kilometers from Fenglin Town, 30 kilometers from Xincheng Township, and 26 kilometers from Hualien County. It is also 138 kilometers from Taipei City.
