Today, the official Weibo account of Lucky Air released a statement regarding compensation for damaged baggage of passengers traveling on Lucky Air flights.
According to the statement, the airline compensated the passenger with the maximum amount of 500 CNY, which exceeds the actual weight-based price of the luggage. The passenger received this compensation on March 14th, and the complaint has been closed.
The statement indicates that the passenger traveled on flight HO1858 from Guangzhou to Shanghai Hongqiao on November 21, 2023, and did not report the damaged baggage on-site upon arrival in Shanghai.
The passenger contacted China Eastern Airlines for the first time the next day to file a complaint about the damaged luggage.
China Eastern Airlines stated that, upon receipt of the complaint, compensation would be provided based on the Civil Aviation Administration of China's "Limits of Liability for Compensation of Air Transport Carriers" and China Eastern Airlines' "General Conditions of Domestic Transportation," with a maximum compensation of 500 CNY per kilogram of the actual weight of the passenger's checked baggage exceeding the corresponding price.
According to media reports, the passenger's luggage is from the KISS ME SHYGIRL series under the Samsonite RED X PLAYNOMORE collaboration, which is a limited edition. When it was launched, its market price was 1,950 Hong Kong dollars, approximately 1,775 CNY.
The passenger also claimed that the suitcase had already been removed from the official website, making it a discontinued item and thus possessing certain collectible value.
