Lei Jun revealed that sales of the Xiaomi SU7 exceeded expectations by three to five times, which he finds quite troublesome. However, he noted that their partners have been very supportive and have rapidly increased production speed.
Even before the launch of Xiaomi's car, Lei Jun had expressed his concerns about the vehicle being either a flop or too successful. It seems his fear of success has indeed turned into a "happy problem."
During the livestream, a netizen urged Lei Jun to help assemble cars at the factory to speed up delivery. In response, Lei Jun seriously pointed out that the Xiaomi car factory is modernized and primarily relies on automated production. He joked that manually tightening screws would be less efficient than the machines, essentially just causing more chaos.
Lei Jun admitted that many people compare him to Elon Musk, stating, "Over a decade ago, I visited Tesla in Silicon Valley and I am also one of the early owners of a Tesla. Musk is a great entrepreneur. Don't compare me to Musk; we are doing different things, but both contribute to the advancement of technology."
Regarding the rumors that he dressed like Musk at a product launch, Lei Jun expressed his frustration, noting that there are only a few colors to choose from for men's suits. He mentioned that Musk seemed to have only worn that particular outfit once, and it was purely coincidental that they dressed similarly.
Lei Jun also addressed the nickname "Lei Bus," which he received for allegedly imitating Apple during his smartphone launches. He felt even more aggrieved, explaining that he did not intend to change his outfit for the event and simply wore his usual clothes on stage.
