Leading Ahead of the West! Huawei's Xu Zhijun: Advancing 5.5G Commercialization to Help China Become a Communication Powerhouse

On May 27th, Huawei's rotating chairman, Xu Zhijun, publicly stated that they are advancing the commercialization of 5.5G, aiming to build an "information superhighway" that is ubiquitous, ultra-wide, and ultra-fast.

In Xu Zhijun's view, this year marks the beginning of 5.5G (5G-A) commercialization. Compared to 5G, 5.5G will increase the downlink speed from 1Gbps to 10Gbps, the uplink speed from 100Mbps to 1Gbps, and the bandwidth will be increased tenfold.

"5.5G air interface latency will be reduced from 10ms to 1ms, a tenfold decrease in latency; 5.5G also introduces new capabilities such as wide-area sub-meter precision sensing, centimeter-level positioning, and full-scenario intelligent interconnection, which will be widely applied in scenarios like smart logistics, intelligent manufacturing, accelerating industry digitalization and intelligent upgrades," Xu Zhijun stated.

In the next 5-10 years, 5G and 5.5G will deliver ultimate experiences across all scenarios including personal, household, office, production, and travel.

For over 200 years, the West's "advancement" has been built on the wheels of trains and cars, with speed propelling the United States to become the world's top industrial power.

Progress in the past and progress in the future are all about speed; in the era of intelligence, the comparison lies in the speed of information transmission. A ubiquitous, ultra-wide, and ultra-fast communication network will be the key for a country to lead the world. s_fbfa51d48c254aa5978e329c86cf8574.jpg
