In line with this year's government work report, which emphasizes stabilizing and expanding traditional consumption while encouraging trade-ins for consumer goods to stimulate consumption, JD Auto announced a collaboration with various brands, allocating 500 million RMB in subsidies to facilitate the trade-in of vehicles. This announcement was made during the China Electric Vehicle One Hundred Forum 2024 Summit held on March 16.
Simultaneously, at the JD Car Care Tire Festival, JD Car Care, in partnership with five major industry associations and several renowned brands, introduced the "Trade-in for Tires" initiative. This initiative aims to raise awareness among more car owners about travel safety, offering more favorable prices for tire trade-ins. Additionally, it collaborates with third-party organizations to promote the environmental recycling and reuse of old tires. Car consumption is a crucial pillar of the national economy, and the practice of trading in old cars for new ones plays a vital role in stabilizing and increasing car consumption, thereby driving continuous development across the automotive industry chain. Previously, under the guidance of the China Association for Quality Promotion, China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, and other industry associations, JD Auto, in collaboration with nearly 50 automotive brands and used car trading platforms, jointly issued a proposal to promote car replacement and launched the "JD Auto Trade-In Platform" on January 30th. This platform aggregates replacement and sales policies from various automotive manufacturers to provide consumers with convenient services for trading in old cars for new ones.
In line with this initiative, the newly opened JD Auto New Energy Experience Center in Tianjin Gaobiao Store on March 17th has also set up a dedicated "Trade-In" section, aiming to create a simpler, more transparent, and trustworthy environment for car replacement.
The "JD Auto Trade-In Platform" brings together a wide range of automotive brands, including LandTourer, Geely, BYD, Chery New Energy, Aion, FAW Toyota, FAW Pentium, Xiaopeng, Wuling Baojun, and others, offering the latest and most comprehensive replacement subsidy policies. Users only need to provide basic information about their vehicles to receive a valuation quote and compare offers from multiple sources to obtain the best deal, making it both cost-effective and worry-free for car owners to upgrade their vehicles. JD Auto plans to promote the implementation of the trade-in policy comprehensively through its nationwide network of 1,500 JD Auto Service Centers, as well as in underserved markets and corporate car events. In the future, JD Auto will continue to upgrade its services in areas such as used car valuation, new car replacement, and JD Auto Service Center offerings.
Tires are also a key category for trade-in consumption. Many car owners face the problem of using tires beyond their expiration dates due to factors such as price and safety awareness, posing significant safety hazards. In recent years, there have also been some "crude oil refining" workshops in the recycling and reuse of used tires, where emissions from the process of decomposing used tires directly harm the environment.
During the JD Auto Tire Festival, which commenced on March 16th, JD Auto, in collaboration with well-known tire brands such as Michelin and Doublestar, launched the industry's first "Tire Trade-In" program. Under the guidance of the China Association for Quality Promotion, and with the support of the China Electric Vehicle One Hundred People's Association and the China Tire Recycling Association, users who purchase four old tires through JD's online and offline channels and have them installed in designated stores will receive a JD Auto MAX membership card worth 198 CNY. The card includes various benefits such as free puncture repair and a 50% discount on car wash services. JD Auto will also recycle the old tires through specialized recycling agencies and ensure their environmentally friendly processing and resource reuse through advanced technologies. Additionally, during the Tire Festival, JD Auto Care's popular "Shock Tiger Price," welcomed by numerous consumers, will be upgraded once again, continuing to offer "the lowest price across the entire web" for car owners. Not only are there "premium brand tires as low as 99 CNY," but also discounts such as "4 tires for 599 CNY" and "second tire half price." In terms of service benefits, multiple benefits such as "double compensation for overpriced purchases," "free tire installation," and "three-year worry-free quality guarantee" will continue to escort consumers. For owners of new energy vehicles, JD Auto Care has launched the "One-Price Tire Replacement Call": owners of new energy vehicles can enjoy an affordable fixed price for purchasing four tires. From March 16th to 23rd, Tesla Model 3 owners can replace 4 high-quality tires for only 1599 CNY; while from March 24th to 29th, BYD Qin PLUS owners can buy 4 tires for no more than 999 CNY.
The transformation of old cars into new ones requires the coordination of the upstream and downstream of the industry chain, government-enterprise collaboration, and the integration of online and offline channels. As a one-stop platform for vehicle selection, car product sales, maintenance services, and new energy solutions, JD Auto aims to actively unite industry forces to provide car owners across the country with a simpler, more transparent, and more reassuring experience in exchanging old cars for new ones. It also advocates for more industry partners to join the Automotive Old-for-New Alliance, to better promote the healthy development of the industry, boost car consumption, activate the market, and meet the demand for new consumer purchases.
