On May 27th, it was reported that Mark Gurman revealed Apple has signed an agreement with OpenAI to introduce the ChatGPT chatbot feature in the iOS 18 operating system.

This news is expected to be one of the highlights at Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June.

Gurman disclosed in his Power On newsletter that while Apple has partnered with OpenAI, Apple remains open to choices for cloud AI services.

Reports mention that Apple is also in negotiations with Google, aiming to include Google's Gemini service as another option in iOS, although this service may not be launched at the upcoming WWDC next month.

Furthermore, Apple is actively developing its own AI technology. It is reported that Apple is working on an AI model named Ajax for tasks such as text analysis, smart replies, and summaries on devices.

OpenAI's technology, especially ChatGPT, will be utilized for handling tasks with higher demands like longer texts and image generation.

This collaboration is crucial for Apple as it provides a buffer space for Apple to develop its proprietary chatbot technology, similar to the strategy of using Google Maps as a transitional solution before launching Apple Maps.

Additionally, iOS 18 is expected to bring a range of AI features, including custom emojis. s_106369b17bde49f687483ca15286ed17.jpg
