International Seminar on Systemic Risks and Multi-Crisis Prevention Held

On May 9-10, the "International Seminar on Systemic Risks and Multi-Crisis Prevention" was held at Beijing Normal University. The conference was chaired by Professor Shi Peijun, Director of the Expert Committee of the National Commission for Disaster Reduction, and Professor Ortwin Renn, a member of the German Academy of Sciences and Director of the Institute for Advanced Sustainability Studies. Professor Zheng Guoguang, President of the China Association for Disaster Prevention and former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Emergency Management, and Professor Wang Ming, Vice President of Beijing Normal University, attended the opening ceremony and delivered speeches.

Professor Chen Deliang, a Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and a Foreign Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, Professor M. Granger Morgan, a member of the US National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Professor Hirokazu Tatano, a member of the Japan Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, and Professor Wolfgang Lutz from the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis were among the 80 representatives from China, the United States, Canada, Germany, Sweden, Austria, Serbia, Bulgaria, and Japan who participated in the conference.

During the event, delegates shared their research findings and viewpoints on topics such as global climate change and systemic risks, systemic risk assessment models and defense paradigms, and multiple crisis prevention cases in urbanization and aging processes. They engaged in lively discussions, providing valuable insights and recommendations for preventing current and future global and regional systemic risks and multiple crises.

Experts at the conference considered it a fruitful and inspiring academic gathering. They look forward to strengthening international cooperation and exchanges to collectively address the challenges of global and regional systemic risks and multiple crises, striving to contribute to the construction of a safer, more stable, and sustainable future world and Earth.

The conference was organized by Beijing Normal University and co-hosted by the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (Austria).
