On May 9th, SK hynix announced the successful development of the next-generation mobile NAND flash storage solution product "ZUFS 4.0," optimized for edge AI smartphones.
SK hynix stated that ZUFS 4.0 is the highest-performing mobile NAND flash storage solution in the industry. By managing data characteristics through partition storage, ZUFS significantly enhances the operating speed of mobile operating systems and the data management efficiency of storage devices compared to existing UFS.
In long-term usage scenarios, ZUFS 4.0 improves the runtime of mobile applications by approximately 45% compared to existing UFS. It also achieves over a 4x improvement in storage read/write performance, extending the product's lifespan by around 40%.
Since 2019, SK hynix has been collaborating with global platform companies to develop ZUFS in response to the market demand for high-performance NAND flash storage solutions driven by AI technology advancements.
SK hynix has already provided trial products to customers and developed 4.0 products in compliance with JEDEC standards based on trial product specifications and customer collaboration.
SK hynix plans to begin mass production of ZUFS 4.0 in the third quarter of this year and expects its products to be integrated into edge AI smartphones released by global mobile companies.
Vice President Ahn Hyeon of SK hynix's NAND flash storage solution committee stated that the company will promptly supply high-performance NAND flash storage solutions, strengthen cooperation with leading global ICT companies, and solidify its position as a top global memory supplier focused on AI.
