Samsung has announced its first LPDDR5X DRAM memory capable of supporting speeds up to an impressive 10.7Gbps, claiming the title of "industry's fastest."
Built on a 12nm process technology, Samsung's 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X memory boasts over a 25% performance improvement and over 30% increase in capacity compared to its predecessor.
Moreover, this memory elevates the single-package capacity of mobile DRAM to 32GB, meeting the demand for high-performance, large-capacity memory in edge AI applications.
It's worth noting that LPDDR5X incorporates specialized power-saving techniques, allowing for frequency adjustments and optimized power modes according to workload, as well as extending the low-power mode frequency range to prolong low-energy operation.
These enhancements result in a 25% increase in energy efficiency compared to the previous generation, thereby extending the battery life of mobile devices and minimizing the total cost of ownership (TCO) by reducing energy consumption during server data processing.
After validation with mobile application processors (AP) and mobile device vendors, the 10.7Gbps LPDDR5X will commence mass production in the latter half of this year.
