According to Hubei Daily, the launch ceremony for the "Hundred Cities, Thousand Towns, Ten Thousand Stores" Green Smart Home Appliance Exchange Program and the 8th Green Smart Home Appliance Festival was held in Wuhan on Friday.

It is reported that from April to December this year, Hubei Province will organize around 10,000 home appliance retail and recycling stores in the province to carry out exchange activities. Consumers participating in the designated stores will enjoy a 10% instant discount subsidy, with a maximum subsidy of 1,000 yuan per item and up to 5,000 yuan for individual users. The program will cover hundreds of urban areas and thousands of villages in the province. The first batch already has over 3,000 participating stores, with more to follow.

In particular, Wuhan launched the 2024 home appliance exchange program on March 9th, providing convenient services for appliance replacement in 67 professional appliance stores throughout the city, covering six major categories including color TVs, refrigerators, washing machines, air conditioners, kitchen appliances, and mobile phones. Cities such as Yichang and Huangshi are actively deploying similar exchange programs.

In mid-month, the Ministry of Commerce and 14 other departments issued the "Action Plan for Promoting Old-for-New Consumption," further stimulating consumption potential in the automotive, home appliance, and home furnishing sectors and cultivating new growth points for consumption.

As previously reported by Pulsestacks, the plan proposes to accelerate the phasing out of national emissions standards for vehicles below the third stage by 2025, further increase the market share of high-efficiency and energy-saving home appliances; increase the recycling volume of scrapped cars by 50% compared to 2023, and increase the recycling volume of waste appliances by 15% compared to 2023; by 2027, the volume of scrapped cars recycled will double compared to 2023, the volume of second-hand car transactions will increase by 45% compared to 2023, and the volume of waste appliances recycled will increase by 30% compared to 2023.
