On May 27th, according to a post from "China Shipbuilding" official WeChat account, the first 175,000 cubic meters large liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier built by Dalian Shipbuilding under China Shipbuilding has smoothly launched.

It is reported that this LNG carrier, independently designed by Dalian Shipyard, boasts outstanding technical specifications and performance. With a total length of 295 meters, a beam of 46.4 meters, a depth of 26.2 meters, a designed draft of 11.5 meters, it can efficiently operate at a designed service speed of 19.5 knots.

With a total cargo capacity of up to 175,000 cubic meters, it is sufficient to meet the docking needs of the vast majority of large LNG terminals worldwide, demonstrating excellent port adaptability and ship-shore compatibility.

Notably, the vessel is equipped with the latest LNG dual-fuel low-speed main engine and integrates an Intelligent Control Exhaust Gas Recirculation (ICER) system. This innovative configuration ensures that both fuel and gas modes meet the highest emission standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), showcasing Dalian Shipyard's leading position in environmental protection technology.

In terms of design, this LNG carrier optimizes hydrodynamic performance and enhances propulsion system safety redundancy through the use of a new type of twin-skeg hull form and an air lubrication system. These design details not only improve the vessel's sailing efficiency but also ensure safety during the voyage.

Regarding the cargo containment system, the vessel adopts the GTT MARK III Flex cargo containment system scheme, with a daily evaporation rate as low as 0.085%. Coupled with a reliquefaction unit, it can flexibly and efficiently handle LNG boil-off gas.

Looking ahead, Dalian Shipyard will focus on the construction of 175,000 cubic meters LNG carriers and gradually expand its construction capabilities to 200,000 cubic meters and above vessel types. This will establish a comprehensive product line of large LNG carriers, laying a solid foundation for the industry's high-quality development. s_8172eecde7454c1dac51a05e24bb54f9.png
