President Yang Renshu of Beijing University of Science and Technology outlined the significant strategic needs addressed by the university over its 72-year history, the reform efforts and achievements in engineering talent cultivation, and proposed the direction and measures for the high-quality construction of the National Outstanding Engineer Academy. The university aims to enhance the quality of talent cultivation in service of national strategies, elevate technological innovation through university-industry collaboration, and boost innovation vitality to lead by example. Together with enterprises, the university will actively address key challenges, establish a new paradigm for engineering talent cultivation that is replicable and scalable, and solidly promote the reform of outstanding engineering talent cultivation known as "lifelong learning with dual mentors from hundreds of companies for thousands of individuals," striving to create a model space for the cultivation of outstanding engineers in the fields of technology and manufacturing, with the steel industry as a representative.

Zhang Haijun, Executive Vice Dean of the National Outstanding Engineer Academy at Beijing University of Science and Technology, provided a report on the academy's construction efforts. Following the approach of "strengthening disciplinary foundations, fostering innovation capabilities, emphasizing professional cross-fertilization, enhancing engineering practice, and deepening university-industry collaboration," the academy will focus on key industrial sectors, select high-quality students, deepen collaboration between academia and industry, and plan for long-term development to construct the National Outstanding Engineer Academy with high quality and promote the reform of outstanding engineering talent cultivation known as "lifelong learning with dual mentors from hundreds of companies for thousands of individuals." 66226dfbe4b03b5da6d0d25b.jpg The conference released the first batch of five core courses in the field of low-carbon smart metallurgy. Professors Zhu Miaoyong from Northeastern University, Li Guanghui from Central South University, Chief Researcher Shentu Lifeng from Baowu Central Research Institute, along with Professors Zhu Rong and Hou Xinmei from University of Science and Technology Beijing jointly released the first batch of five core courses in the field of low-carbon smart metallurgy.

It is reported that the University of Science and Technology Beijing will focus on the demand for excellent engineering talents in the industry's innovative development and green low-carbon development. They will vigorously promote the reform of talent cultivation in the metallurgical industry, and together with brother universities such as Central South University, Northeastern University, and cooperating enterprises such as China Baowu Steel Group, jointly build a core curriculum system for cultivating excellent engineers in low-carbon smart metallurgy. The construction of the curriculum system is led by Professor Mao Xinping, a member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and a professor at the University of Science and Technology Beijing. It will focus on building around 15 core courses, with the first batch releasing and constructing five courses.

Wu Guilong presented the plaque to the Engineer Technology Center of the National Excellent Engineering Institute. According to him, the school will make every effort to build the Engineer Technology Center, integrate internal and external resources, collaborate with national laboratories and other high-level scientific research institutions, upgrade the original scientific research and education platform and engineering training platform, and build enterprise-level simulation environments and engineering technology practice platforms to better support the cultivation of excellent engineering talents.

The conference also held the "Steel and Iron" Excellent Engineering Talent Cultivation Forum. Guests gave reports and shared their insights on the theme of "Integration of Production, Teaching, and Research in Cultivating Excellent Engineers."
