On March 30th, the inaugural (2024) "China College Computer Competition — AIGC Innovation Contest," hosted by the National Association of Computer Education of Higher Education Institutions and co-hosted by Nankai University and vivo Corporation, was held at the Tiankai Higher Education and Innovation Park. This competition is part of the "China College Computer Competition" series, aimed at enhancing students' professional knowledge in the field of AIGC (Artificial Intelligence and Big General Models), innovation in application scenarios, and the ability to create using artificial intelligence big models.

It is understood that the "China College Computer Competition" was founded in 2016 by the Teaching Steering Committee of Computer Majors in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the Teaching Steering Committee of Software Engineering Majors in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the Teaching Steering Committee of University Computer Courses in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, and the National Association of Computer Education of Higher Education Institutions. Since its establishment, the competition has always adhered to the concept of "serving teaching, promoting teaching reform, promoting integration, and leading innovation," and has had a wide and profound impact on the university community.

The AIGC Innovation Contest is the latest competition module of the "China College Computer Competition," with vivo's self-developed Blue Heart Big Model Matrix as the technical foundation, assisting in AIGC application innovation and content creation, and working together with young developers to promote the rapid development of big model cutting-edge technology and accelerate the formation of new quality productivity to achieve AI inclusiveness.

Yang Kexin, Executive Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Nankai University, welcomed the guests on behalf of Nankai University. She stated that artificial intelligence is regarded as an important engine for the development of new quality productivity. Nankai University has gathered innovative forces and has introduced more than 130 registered enterprises in the core area of Tiankai Park, actively promoting the transformation of scientific and technological achievements into new quality productivity. Through this competition, she hopes to create new benchmarks in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship for university students, new business cards for the development and construction of Tiankai Park, and new models of cooperation among universities.

Gong Ke, Executive Director of the China Institute for the Development of Next Generation Artificial Intelligence Strategy and former President of Nankai University, said in his speech that generative artificial intelligence represented by ChatGPT and Sora is profoundly changing people's production, life, and learning methods with unprecedented breadth, depth, and speed, posing higher requirements for learners' intelligent qualities. He hopes that through this competition, young university students will learn to meet the challenges of a new stage, master safe, reliable, and trustworthy AI technology, and help accelerate the development of Chinese-style modernization. He wishes the competition a complete success and to become the most prominent track in the field of generative artificial intelligence.

During the opening ceremony, Zhang Haining, a visiting professor at Nankai University, introduced the competition rules of the AIGC Innovation Contest. The competition is divided into seven regions, and domestic college students can freely form teams across grades, majors, schools, and regions. The competition will start accepting submissions on April 8th, and the final defense and exhibition of the finals are expected to be held in late September. The competition topics are divided into application tracks and creation tracks. The application track focuses on practical application development, transforming students' creativity into practical AI application solutions; the creation track requires the use of tools such as Blue Heart Thousand Inquiries and Marvelous Brushstrokes to output complete creative works, testing the participants' imagination and creativity.

This competition is expected to attract participation from over 350 colleges and universities nationwide, including 100 "Double First-Class" universities, with an estimated 6,000 teams and 50,000 participating students. In terms of awards, first, second, and third prizes will be awarded based on final rankings, including five first prizes for the application track, each with a prize of 50,000 CNY. 660a6670e4b03b5da6d0c1fb.jpg Live from the event venue: Photo by Zong Qiqi
