On March 17th, it was disclosed that Ideal MEGA, since its launch and delivery, has yet to unveil any related order information, fueling speculation within the industry that its sales may have fallen short of expectations.
Recently, according to reports from domestic media, the actual order situation of Ideal MEGA has been revealed. Ideal had expected around 3000 orders for MEGA within 24 hours, but the final outcome fell short of expectations, only achieving half of the target.
Moreover, within half a month of its release, MEGA has received nearly 4000 orders, while the monthly production capacity of the MEGA factory stands at 5000 units.
An insider revealed that the ideal team has been bustling with post-Spring Festival activities, including media test drives, preparing for the launch event, production, and sales training. Many have been working non-stop for two weeks straight. While everyone anticipated a sigh of relief after the official launch of MEGA, they were caught off guard by the continuous onslaught of challenges that followed.
In contrast, MEGA's most direct competitor at present is the Jike 009, priced between 500,000 to 580,000 RMB, with monthly sales hovering steadily at over 1,000 units.
Meanwhile, the Tengshi D9, with its more competitive pricing starting at 340,000 RMB and a plug-in hybrid version available, achieved 4,016 units in sales last month, securing a spot in the top three in the domestic MPV market.
Given the performance of MEGA in its debut month, uncertainties loom over whether it can surpass the 50,000-unit mark, making it the top-selling car priced above 500,000 RMB.
Reports suggest that the core management team at Ideal is deliberating on whether to revise down the sales target for MEGA to 50,000 to 60,000 units, but the final figure is yet to be confirmed.
