IDC: Android System Growth Expected to Double That of Apple iOS This Year

Thu, Apr 25 2024 08:01 PM EST

According to Nabila Popal, research director at IDC, in an interview with CNN on April 16, "This year, we expect the growth rate of the Android system to be twice that of iOS."

Popal added that Apple's smartphone sales dropped nearly 10% in Q1 of this year, which she described as a "sharp decline" for the company. "Over the past four years, Apple has proven to be perhaps the most resilient brand, better able to overcome supply chain issues and macro challenges than other brands."

Regarding Samsung's reclaiming of the title of the world's largest smartphone manufacturer in this quarter, Popal said that Samsung's return to the top is "significant." She believes that with the overall recovery of the smartphone market this year and efforts in the field of artificial intelligence, Samsung is poised for further growth. ?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdingyue.ws.126.net%2F2024%2F0416%2F696a54e4j00sc15sa009vd001hc00zlg.jpg&thumbnail=660x2147483647&quality=80&type=jpg The IDC report predicts that Apple and Samsung will maintain their market share, while the recovery of Huawei, Xiaomi, and other companies like OPPO/OnePlus in the Chinese market is expected to continue.

According to a report by Pulsestacks yesterday, IDC data shows that global smartphone shipments in the first quarter of 2024 (1Q24) increased by 7.8% year-on-year to 289.4 million units. Although the smartphone industry has not fully recovered from its challenges and still faces macroeconomic hurdles, this figure marks the third consecutive quarter of growth in smartphone shipments, serving as a strong indicator that the recovery is progressing smoothly.
