On March 7th, following Huawei's lead, leading domestic smartphone manufacturers are actively venturing into satellite communication. Currently, companies like Xiaomi and OPPO have already unveiled satellite communication-enabled phones.

These domestic manufacturers are utilizing the TianTong-1 satellite system, which is operated by China Telecom. This system facilitates satellite messaging and satellite phone functionalities. However, until now, it has been limited to domestic usage only.

Now, with the recent allocation of the international telecommunication code number starting with 88252 for the TianTong satellite system, users can expect seamless communication abroad from brands like Huawei and Xiaomi. s_49d2d2d89c8244bd81d9ce9ed74808db.jpg It's been reported that the TianTong-1 satellite not only covers domestic areas but also extends its coverage to regions surrounding China such as the Middle East, Africa, and vast areas of the Pacific and Indian Oceans. However, prior to this, approval for overseas usage had not been obtained. This situation is now poised to change.

China Telecommunications Corporation recently received approval from the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), obtaining user dialing codes and network identification codes for TianTong satellite services. This marks the first time a Chinese telecom enterprise has secured international telecommunication code resources for satellite communication services.

According to reports, China Telecom has acquired a total of 13 digits, with the first five digits being (882) 52, designated for TianTong satellite services.

Once users activate these international numbers, they can utilize satellite phones and send satellite messages directly in overseas regions covered by TianTong satellites. The user's displayed number will be 882 52 xxxx xxxx. 93bd2cea-0018-4004-8320-3ac233b23c0b.jpg China Telecom, leveraging the domestically developed "Tiantong-1" satellite mobile communication system and network, now offers satellite mobile services to domestic users, including satellite mobile voice and messaging.

With the recent approval for international code resources, China Telecom can extend its mobile satellite communication services directly to international users within the coverage area of the "Tiantong-1" satellite. This enables stable and reliable mobile communication services for various sectors such as maritime transportation, deep-sea fishing, aviation rescue, and scientific expeditions.

The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) will guide China Telecom in strictly adhering to the management regulations of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), ensuring scientific planning and efficient utilization of code resources, and accelerating the internationalization of Tiantong satellite mobile business operations.
