On March 15th, according to tech blogger Digital Chat Station, Huawei is in the process of developing its own ultrasonic under-display fingerprint technology. But it doesn't stop there – Huawei has also devised algorithms for optical under-display and capacitive fingerprint solutions. Their prowess in research and development is truly remarkable.

Data indicates that ultrasonic fingerprint recognition is a recent breakthrough technology. When a finger presses against the screen, sensors beneath emit ultrasonic waves to the pressed area.

As these waves encounter the ridges and valleys of the fingerprint, variations in absorption, penetration, and reflection generate different energy echoes, which are then received by the sensors to construct a 3D fingerprint image.

The advantages of ultrasonic fingerprint recognition technology include strong penetration, resistance to water and smudge interference, high recognition rates, support for live detection, and heightened security.

It is understood that most smartphone brands currently rely on under-display fingerprint solutions provided by the supply chain. With Huawei's self-developed ultrasonic under-display fingerprint technology, they are poised to once again surge ahead of other brands.

According to official disclosures, Huawei has significantly increased its investment in research and development to enhance the competitiveness of its products and solutions through technological innovation.

From 2021 to 2023, Huawei's R&D investment as a percentage of company revenue exceeded 20% each year, with its total R&D investment ranking among the top five globally in 2023. s_a50f74028a9e4f20aef69663e980a899.jpg
